Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

If I could write a list of all the bugbears I experience while traveling on public transport, it would be less like a list and more like a lengthy essay.

I am encountering a lot of them right now. Personal space issues, phone’s not on silent, loud breathing, persistent sniffing, school kids sitting in the seats while adults are standing up around them, loud phone keypads (seriously, just turn it on silent). Oh, so much irritation!

But no! I will not let these things bother me. I refuse to let myself feel irritated and annoyed, especially by things I cannot control. Why? Because having negative thoughts aren’t going to get me anywhere. If I focus and zone in on negative feelings, I will just end up attracting more negativity into my day – the more I think about it, the more I am going to feel annoyed and you know what, I don’t want to start my day feeling that way!


I want to have a good day! And a good day, I will have – by choosing a positive attitude!

Instead, I am going to focus on the things I am grateful for. I’m happy that I managed to get on the early train, the one that I usually miss. I’m thankful that I am one of the lucky ones who managed to get a seat when so many people are standing up and squished like sardines (having more personal space issues than I am right now). The sun is shining and the sky is blue. It’s a beautiful summer day. I am happy to be going to work, to a job I still enjoy, with people I love working with. I am happy to have an income. Although my effort was poor, I’m proud of myself for getting up and doing even just a small amount of exercise this morning.

Today is going to be a good day, because I believe it is going to be. I am going to have fun at work and have lovely customers all day. I’m going to be in a happy positive mood. And I am going to eat healthy and drink 3L of water.

Happy thoughts. Happy outcome.

It’s so easy to get caught up in all the negativity and little things that annoy us. But don’t. Don’t let these things get to you because like attracts like. Think negative, attract negative. Think positive, attract positive. And with that, have an amazing day! Just like I am going to 🙂
