There is just something about green drinks, that have the ability to make you feel as if you are suddenly 10 times healthier once you have finished consuming one. Like you have just enriched your body with a bunch of nutrients! Or is that just me?
It’s probably because even from a young age it has been drilled into me how important it is to eat my veggies (especially the green ones). Or maybe its because I often see all these health gurus and super-fit, yoga-loving mums downing them all the time. But truth be told, I have tasted some pretty terrible concoctions before, which almost put me off the green smoothie bandwagon for life. Until, I came up with my own little recipe that is still nutrient rich but actually tastes YUM!
This is my go-to green smoothie, It’s packed-full with all the good stuff – protein, iron, nutrients and superfoods! And trust me (despite it’s not so appetising colour), it tastes delicious too!
250ml Coconut water
1 frozen banana (chopped into pieces)
approx. 1/2C frozen (or fresh) blueberries
1-2 handfuls of fresh spinach leaves
1T chia seeds
1t of spirulina powder
1scoop of vanilla protein powder (I use sun warrior vegan protein powder) – optional
Just blend it all together, pour it into a glass and voila, you have a tasty post-workout smoothie, snack or even breakfast on the run. Hope you enjoy it. What is your go-to smoothie recipe? Leave me a comment and let me know.
